Calix has filed patent applications designating numerous countries under the international PCT system (Patent Cooperation Treaty) applications. This allows the company more time in which to decide the countries of relevant interest before committing significant resources and finances. Subsequently, it is necessary to pursue individual patent applications in each of the selected countries.

Calix is proactive in seeking patent protection for its inventions which are expected to expand in the future. The Calix patent portfolio is shown in the table below and the designations for each patent shows the progress of the patent through the PCT process. The patent portfolio has extensive coverage in many significant countries and regions.

Extensive prior art searching has been carried out prior to the filing of patent applications to form a view as to the likelihood that an invention is patentable
