Business Approach
The company and its operations are structured to manage the anticipated high growth. This will be progressively monitored and any appropriate changes made. The expectations of all stakeholders need to be realistic and well managed. The growth will in part be opportunistic as large contracts may present themselves particularly in emerging markets. Joint Ventures will be considered to reduce risk and increase market share. This is in contrast to the measured approach proposed for the existing and more mature markets such as building products.
The day to day operations is the responsibility of the Managing Director and the Executive Management Team (EMT). The EMT currently comprises the Managing Director, Operations manager, Chief Scientist, Chief Financial Controller, Company Secretary and the Plant manager for Bacchus Marsh site. The Bacchus Marsh site progresses under the supervision of the Plant manager who will supervise the day to day operations and plant expansion.
The Company Head Office is located in Sydney, NSW where the corporate functions of management, finance, company secretarial, web site management are carried out. The Calcining business sales will initially be undertaken from the Sydney office with a view to it becoming a business division in about 12 months. The Endex Reactor business will also be initially undertaken from the Sydney office with the option of also creating a separate business division.
It is envisaged that significant expansion in business activity will occur over the next two to three years and Calix (Europe) Ltd and Calix (North America) Inc have been set up to cope with this expansion. Joint Venture activity is also planned in the building product and fertiliser industries in Europe and North America. Dolomix and Gromag are currently operating as 50:50 joint ventures and are currently undertaking limited research in their respective fields with Calix maintaining ownership of the intellectual property.
The company takes its responsibility for OH&S very seriously and has policies and procedures in place company-wide to cope with its stated “no harm” policy. These policies and procedures will be expanded worldwide as the need arises through company and or sales expansion.
