Calix is a Technology Commercialisation Company

The Calix calcination process has the ability to fine-tune the processing of minerals to deliver product to a wide range of product specifications - the ability to perform this processing on a wide range of minerals within the same technology is unique to the Calix patented processes.

Catalytic Steam Calcination provides high surface area oxides and highly active products which have applications in fertilizers, building materials and as catalysts for industrial processes.

World-wide reserves of limestone, dolomite, and to a lesser extent, magnesite, are large.

Currently, the technology used to process these minerals is:-

• Highly energy intensive (and many times inefficient);
• Such that it releases large quantities of CO₂ to the atmosphere; and
• Unable to use small material sizes through the processing cycle

The Calix patented technology addresses these issues, and through the use of the unique and proprietary calcining technology, has a potential to address additional high value opportunities in the building products and agri-business sectors together with applications in the medical and the emerging nano-particle industries.

Through the use of leading-edge control and automation systems, Calix aims to deliver products to quality standards that are difficult to deliver through existing manufacturing methodologies.
