BUILDING PANELS

Dolomix building panels can be made from Semidolime binder and waste fillers such as ground car tyres or green waste. Dolomix can be cast into building products which are strong, light, fireproof, weatherproof and soundproof.

The use of aeration technology would be the most likely to be used to give a high strength/weight ratio. The "aeration" is achieved with the CO₂ from the calcination process, which hardens the pores to provide added strength. The key steps are to optimise the recipes and to ensure that the binder is produced from dolomite resources worldwide. The testing process for this product encompasses the properties required by the building industry for similar products (eg Hebel cement). The product actually encapsulates two thirds of the original CO₂ in the raw material.

Cheaper Cement with half the CO₂ emitted to atmosphere (and three times the strength).

The "active" oxides of magnesium and calcium (lime) and dolomite (a mixture of the two) have very large binding powers compared to dead oxides produced under traditional calcining techniques. Hence clinker has to be added to lime and refired and reground to produce cement to give a satisfactory bind to sand or gravel.

If dolomite is flash calcined at medium temperature only the magnesium oxidises because the temperature is not great enough to make the carbonate give off its CO₂ to form calcium oxide.
