CaliCoat coatings and paints are made from Semidolime blended with polymers. They are marine growth resistant and non-toxic. CaliCoat can be used as a coating for underwater structures and as an anti-fouling paint for ships. It is also effective protecting exposed metal structures against toxic gases. HIGH TEMPERATURE PAINTThis project is being progressed with an overseas partner. The application is a deck coating that is durable, resilient to high temperatures and inflammable (e.g. for vertical take-off planes), is non-slip and flexible (to deal with flexing of the ship's deck). A future project is to research the opportunity for further development of a paint, when applied thickly - may be produced to a strength which can stop bullets. Calix role in this partnership is to supply the 'binder' which principally enhances the thermal properties of the final product. PAINTCalix has a provisional patent on this application which derives from observations of marine growth in fresh water, and later experiments in salt water. It would appear to inhibit marine growth dramatically. Calix, in partnership with a manufacturer of a polymer material, is producing the binder. In this application, the Calix material while acting as a filler, also produces binding properties with the polymer to give a strong, but flexible paint. Scientific tests are currently being undertaken of this product. |
