Board of Directors

The Calix Board is comprised of the following members:

KEN FARROW BBS, FCPA, FAICD
Chairman (Appointed November 2006)

Ken is the Managing Partner of Ken Farrow Consulting Pty Limited.

He has held several directorships, including 10 years on the board of the Financial Markets Foundation for Children, and was formally the inaugural Chief Executive & Managing Director of the Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA), a role he held for 16 years. During this time, he brought numerous disconnected stakeholders together under AFMA, and fostered a collaborative environment that produced several constructive and successful initiatives. He tackled several Finance Industry efficiency issues, and implemented technical solutions while recognizing vested interest stakeholder agendas to deliver first-of-kind industry solutions. These included data capture systems, Industry codes and standards, financial product revaluation services, and individual accreditation programs (pre-regulation).

Ken is well-versed in working with stakeholders from industry, regulatory agencies, government and associations to stimulate change and solutions. While he knows how to use technology to achieve outcomes, he passionately believes that success occurs primarily through stimulating engagement and collaboration between people - an awareness that has been developed through his many years of experience delivering successful projects. Ken is also recognized as an innovator, particularly in the area of identifying and realizing new and innovative sources of revenue for companies.

He is a Certified Practicing Accountant, and a Fellow with the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

JULIAN DINSDALE BSC, FIEE., FIE AUSTRALIA, CP ENG, MIICA, MACS
Managing Director (Appointed November 2007)

Julian Dinsdale is an electrical engineer with an extensive background in the commercial aspects of developing new technologies and bringing such technologies to market.

Julian was appointed Managing Director of Calix in January 2008 and brings to the company very solid expertise in managing technology companies in the energy and telecommunications sectors with a strong emphasis on project management, financial analysis, business planning and marketing.

Julian Dinsdale has a solid background in operating technology companies in the energy and telecommunications industries with a strong emphasis on project, financial and corporate management. He has successfully assisted in the raising significant funds for investments in the private and public equity markets in Australia, UK, Europe and USA. He has worked with disparate Shareholders and Boards as an active Director and / or corporate advisor and has achieved positive corporate end objectives.

Whilst Julian was primarily trained as an electrical engineer, his career for the past 25 years has been characterised by hands-on project and corporate management, fund raising, financial management and corporate governance whilst working with, and reporting to management, company Boards and shareholders.

Julian was Chairman of Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited and guided the company over a period of five years from a research and development organisation to a formidable international fuel cell company listed on the Australian and London AIM markets. In addition Julian has his own consulting company and consults at management and corporate level to technology companies in Australia and overseas.

Julian's strengths are in all areas of corporate operations from strategic planning, business planning and corporate structuring to operational and financial management. He has had direct hands-on successful experience in these areas. He has been successful in restructuring various companies and raising finance from both public and private equity markets to support various restructuring activities. He has extensive Board experience in the private, governmental and public sectors.

Julian is a private pilot and fly's his own aircraft. He is a life member of North Sydney Apex Club and a founding and current director of the Australian Listening Library. He was also a founder and director of the Australian Institute of Advanced Learning that has provided advanced learning techniques into schools, institutions, police, insurance industry, armed forces, company boards etc.

JACK BOORNE AM
Director (Appointed November 2006)

Jack is an electrical engineer by training. He was managing director of a listed medical scientific company and until recently Chairman and founder of a successful Investment Advisory House. He was director of the federal government's Australian industries Development Corporation (AIDC), a chairman of the Small Business Council of Australia, the Australian Academy of Design, the Industrial Design Council of Australia and the Medical Industries Association, and a director of the Research and Development Grants Board and other groups. He has a portfolio of directorships in private and listed companies. Jack was awarded an Order of Australia for his services to the manufacturing and export sectors.

KEN ANGEL
Director (Appointed November 2006)

Ken is currently the CEO of Biometric Innovations Pty Ltd, a leading developer of software applications utilizing biometric technologies. Ken has had 35 years of management experience in financial and manufacturing industries in both Australia and overseas, including building product research and development. He has been associated with calcination research for a period of fifteen years.

PETER TURNBULL LLB, BCom (Melb.), FAICD, FCIS
Director (Appointed February 2009)

Peter Turnbull is a corporate lawyer and company director with 25 years commercial experience gained with a number of Australia's largest listed public companies as well as with regulatory bodies in Australia and Hong Kong. Peter is also well versed in the commercial aspects of doing business in East Asian markets, Europe and the United States.

Peter's skills and experience span various business sectors (including mining, energy and industrial manufacturing) as well as different types of entities including listed public companies, regulatory authorities and government owned businesses. Senior executive roles have included heading up a wide range of company secretarial and corporate and legal functions.

Peter has particular experience in the commercialisation of new technologies and is currently a non-executive Director of several private and unlisted public companies and is a business owner in the Australian tourism sector. Peter is also National Vice-President of Chartered Secretaries Australia which is the peak Australian professional body providing corporate governance related training, education and thought leadership to governance professionals.

Peter is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
